Harrogate Lau Gar Kung Fu Club

A Traditional Chinese Kung Fu

Lau Gar Kung Fu is a Traditional Style Chinese Martial Art. Harrogate Lau Gar Club is a part of the British Kung Fu Association (BKFA) which was founded in 1973 by Master J Yau. This Kung Fu style is defined as ‘short’ and ‘external’. This means it is ideal for close quarter situations and deals with strikes from both hand and feet. The style also incorporates locks (Chin Na) and is famous for its Weapons like Sword, Spear and Tiger Fork.

Harrogate has had a Lau Gar Kung Fu club for over 20 years and is currently run by four fully insured, BKFA approved, high grade Black Sash teachers. Currently the Harrogate Kung FU Club is run by 4 5th Degree Black belt teachers.

Unlike some other Martial Arts, Lau Gar Kung Fu is an upright style, making it ideal for those that do not like being thrown or rolling on the floor grappling.
